GETTING ON MY VSCO GRID

A few weeks ago I came across the VSCO Cam while searching for some new apps. You are not familiar with VSCO? So wasn’t I! What a shame! Go & get the VSCO Cam instantly if you are into photo apps! VSCO lets you display you pictures in a grid. Above you can see, that I am slowly building my grid, doesn’t it look great?
I downloaded some very nice filters, my favorites are called T1 – T3… Though I would recommend every filter: working with different filters is what makes VSCO so great because it is so different from other apps!
They describe themselves as a minimalist publishing platform that honors art and artists! They continue by saying ‘VSCO Grid is founded on the idea that beauty can be found by anyone in anyplace.’ My motto! What about you?
Before I forget: go to VSCO to take a look to my gallery

PALAIS XIII

Ladies and Gents,
may I introduce: the most beautiful shop on earth! When I grow up, I want to live in the PALAIS XIII! Ok, actually, I want to be Dietlind Wolf AND live in Palais XIII when I grow up!
Before I tell you about the shop, I need to tell you, how I found it first.
I have been a HUGE fan of Dietlind Wolf for years and haven’t missed a post. Many of you may know her for her amazing prop styling… But being the creative artist, that she is, she also makes beautiful ceramics & amazing jewelry! I got so inspired, she even got me to producing my own jewelry. I know, this isn’t everybody’s favorite – but I love bugs. I brought some antique forms from Paris & have been experimenting with jewelry making à la Dietlind. So here goes my first little bug:

Well, I love my little bug, but it is still not as fragile as Dietlind’s. My cravings for her black ceramic pendants didn’t disappear, so I wanted to have a black little bug by Dietlind. I did my research & found a link on her site, referring to Palais XIII. Tadaa, so here we go.
3 weeks ago I was in Hamburg , visiting my best friend, & could finally pay a visit to Palais XIII! The shop owner & I had such a nice conversation after I told her, how I found their store. Palais XIII is run by two designers and I am heartbroken, that I didn’t ask for the name of the lady I was talking to { so let me know who you are – if you are reading this }. It was a really nice talk, where we went on chatting about wire sculptures, how it is being a shop owner & offering customers unique products… They have a beautifully chosen collection of art, ceramics, wallpaper, furniture… It’s too much to pick from, so you have to go & see for yourself! Before I show you some of the images, you have to promise me: visit Palais XIII the next time you are in Hamburg, OK? Promise?

LAST WEEK ON: INSTAGRAM

I am a very passionate Instagrammer! But sometimes you get tired of the same old, same old! I love the look of Instagram but I got tired of the square images and wanted something new! So I got a new app & been experimenting ever since. Don’t you just love these?

OPTIONS! AMSTERDAM!

Options! Amsterdam via Passion and Obsession blog
A week and a half ago I went to Amsterdam & have already told you about some of the vintage stores & flea markets I love to go. Now its time to show you a very special store, that I love to visit, every time I go to Amsterdam! I can’t remember when I discovered this beautiful shop, but I already promised to write more about it. At the end of this tour I will show you, what I brought home from Options!
Options! offers accommodations at their Hotel The Exchange & also has a nice cafe right next to the Department store. The store Options! is just a walk down the street from the main station & it is close to many famous attractions of Amsterdam like The Sex Museum and the Red Light District. The spot, where you can go on a guided boat tour is right across the street & it is also not far away from Chinatown.
Once in the store, you can choose from designer furniture, stationary, jewelry, clothes and ceramics… Being a huge fan of all kinds of bugs, I thought these bug towels were very funny!

The last time I’ve been to Options! I fell in love with this little turquoise table & now wanted to take a closer look at it. This time there were much more tables on display, in all sizes & colors. Well, can you decide what your favorite color is? I can’t choose between yellow & turquoise…

Next to the amazing tables, I was impressed by the beautifully chosen decoration at the counter. The nice lady behind it told me, that these threads are not for sale, they are just the rests of the garn, they used for the mattresses at the cafe next door. Isn’t this just the cutest idea? I fell in love with the copper garn & the lady was nice enough to cut off a tiny little bit of it: now it matches my black letters I got there. Here you can see, how the mattresses look – I think they are gorgeous! Also, the sitting area had the largest tulips I have seen in my life! Again, isn’t this pretty? Here you can get an idea how beautiful the cafe was…

Of course I brought some souvenirs back home: I love to wear necklaces, I got myself a cow & a lion… To me this lion symbolizes strength & the cow is a perfect present from Holland, as you seem to see cows all over the place when you go to Amsterdam… They are so easy to wear – as they are light as a feather – the perfect summer accessory! The same applies to black initial letters. Love! Love! Love! those & I get a lot of positive response. Neon has been all over the place for years now, still, I couldn’t help but falling in love with this business card holder!

I hope, you get the idea, why I LOVE Options! by looking at the pictures… If you get a chance, you NEED to go there!

This last week was very eventful, I’ve been to lots of places & on many photo safaris! Amsterdam, Dortmund, Hamburg. I loved it & am little behind editing all the pictures, so here is a little glimpse of Dortmund’s industrial culture & Hamburg’s fine looks…. The looks of Amsterdam you can see here & here.

VINTAGE SHOPPING & THRIFTING IN AMSTERDAM

First things first. I love going to flea – and antique markets. But, to be honest, I don’t get up at 5 am when on vacation just to get a great bargain. Back at home I go to flea markets really early, as I would recommend everybody else. But on vacation I love to stroll & just do my research on new trends. When in Amsterdam, I usually start my tour at the Waterlooplein flea market. This flea market is open from Monday till Saturday until 5:30pm, the products are not overpriced & it is surrounded by nice cafes and shops. The Vintage shop ‘Episode‘ is here and it is my favorite, because they sell shorts made of recycled leather. Not far away there is another cute little vintage store called ‘Retro et Chic 1953′. Here are a few images from my trip last Monday:

If you are not with the car, you can’t buy that many things anyway. The next time I go with a car, I promise to check out more vintage furniture stores…

A CREATIVE PROCESS

MAY IN GERMANY IS A BLAST! YOU HAVE SO MANY PUBLIC HOLIDAYS & I COULDN’T BE MORE THANKFUL! THIS YEAR HAS BEEN VERY HECTIC & IT FEELS LIKE I HAVEN’T HAD ONE WEEKEND TO MYSELF SINCE CHRISTMAS. IT SOUNDS PRETTY SELFISH – IT MAYBE IS – BUT I NEED MY TIME ALONE… SO THIS WEEKEND WAS THE FIRST WEEKEND IN MONTHS I HAD NO APPOINTMENTS, NOWHERE TO GO, NO COMMITMENTS AT ALL! I SWITCHED OFF MY PHONE, TOLD MOST OF MY FRIENDS THAT I AM ON ‘A VACATION WITH MYSELF’ & HAD A WONDERFUL TIME. SO TODAY IS A HOLIDAY, AGAIN, AND I AM TAKING SOME TIME TO SUM IT ALL UP.
AS A CREATIVE PERSON MY MIND NEVER STOPS WORKING. I GET INSPIRED & AN IDEA GOES ON MY ‘TO DO LIST’. PROBLEM WAS: THE ‘TO DO LIST’ WAS GROWING, MY DISCONTENT WITH NEVER BEING ABLE TO REALIZE THOSE IDEAS GREW. I HAD TO MEET SO MANY OBLIGATIONS, THAT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING SUFFERED: ME!
A VERY LONG TIME AGO – WHEN I WAS 17 – I WENT TO IBIZA FOR VACATION & MET THIS VERY OLD HIPPIE. AFTER A LONG CONVERSATION HE GAVE ME JUST ONE ADVICE: GIRL, ALL YOU HAVE TO LEARN IN LIFE IS: TO SAY NO! EVER SINCE I HAVE TO REMIND MYSELF THAT I CAN’T SATISFY EVERYONE & MOST IMPORTANT, THAT I HAVE TO MEET MY NEEDS AND EXPECTATIONS! BUT – HOW CAN I BE MY BEST, IF THERE IS NOT ENOUGH TIME TO FULFILL MY DREAMS? THE FIRST STEP WAS TAKING A VACATION WITH MY FRIENDS IN THE BEGINNING OF MAY. IT WORKED WONDERS & I CAME BACK FULL OF ENERGY. THEN FINALLY, THIS LONG WEEKEND DID THE REST! NEEDLESS TO SAY, THAT I HAD THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WEEKEND WITH ME, MYSELF AND I! FINALLY I FINISHED LOTS OF CREATIVE PROJECTS & EVEN STARTED SOME NEW ONES! I CAN’T WAIT TO SHARE THOSE WITH YOU…
SO NOW YOU KNOW THAT I GO TO MY PERSONAL CREATIVE ISLAND – WHAT DO YOU DO TO CHARGE YOUR BATTERIES?

LAST WEEK MY FRIENDS AND I WENT ON VACATION. IT WASN’T THE PERFECT SUNNY WEATHER, BUT IT WAS TOTALLY RELAXING! THIS WEEK I AM BACK, FULL OF ENERGY! I KEEP FORGETTING TAKING SHORT BREAKS, BUT IT ACTUALLY WORKS WONDERS!
IT ALSO SEEMS, LIKE I AM OBSESSED WITH CHERRY BLOSSOM PICTURES… THESE WILL BE THE LAST ONES FOR THIS YEAR…

EVERY TIME I GO TO AMSTERDAM, I PAY A VISIT TO OPTIONS! IT IS VERY CENTRAL & A MUST SEE! THE LAST TIME I GOT SOME LETTERS WITH MY INITIALS, BUT A BIGGER OBJECT CAUGHT MY ATTENTION. IT WAS A WOODEN TABLE, COVERED WITH A THICK BLUE LUCENT ENAMEL-LIKE LAYER. THE NATURAL WOOD & THE SPILLED PLASTIC, THE ARTIFICIAL BLUE ICING LOOKED SO PERFECT TOGETHER, THAT I HAVEN’T FORGOTTEN ABOUT THIS TABLE…
I NEED TO VISIT REAL SOON & MAKE NEW PICTURES BECAUSE THE PICTURES SHOWN ON THE PAGE DON’T DO ANY JUSTICE.
